Fauna and environmental policy

Dehesa de Los Llanos is a highly attractive location for the local fauna. At Dehesa de Los Llanos great care is taken to ensure that the local fauna can acclimatise and develop itself. As a result of this care there is a natural landscape of 1,500 ha which is considered of High Ecological Value, where specimens of Deer, Fallow Deer and Mouflon can be observed.

In addition to the birds that have settled down in Dehesa de Los Llanos such as Golden Eagles or Owls, there is also what is probably the largest population of Red-legged Partridge from La Mancha, a Partridge that is born and bred in the countryside, enjoying throughout its life an environment that offers it the capacity for development that its species has always had.

As is to be expected in an environment such as that provided by Dehesa de Los Llanos, autoctonous Rabbits and Hares are found in abundance all around, with the result that for some years now Dehesa de los Llanos has been capturing live rabbits and hares -some 20.000 a year- to repopulate other areas in Spain or Europe.
